Classic Track for November: “Weekend”

“Weekend” is a classic soul & disco track released by American R&B artist Alicia Myers in 2011 from her fifth studio album “Peace of Mind”.

Alicia Myers was born in Detroit, Michigan - she moved to Los Angeles in 1972 where she won a talent contest along with her brother Jackie Myers.  The Soul Funk singer joined the band One Way before going solo as a singer/songwriter in 1981.

Here fifth album “Peace of Mind” features the wonderful soul track “Weekend” which is my track of the month for August 2020.

Alicia’s biggest hit has been “I Want To Thank You” produced by Irene Perkins and Kevin McCord that reached No.5 on the Billboard R’n’B chart in 1981.
